How Much Sugar Is Good

The question is this. Is sugar bad? Well, it’s not so long as you are within the recommended daily intake. According to the World Health Organization, an average adult has to take in 25 grams of sugar. So this is equivalent to about two and a half Krispy Kreme donuts. Now that’s good news, right?

But don’t rush to the nearest Krispy Kreme just yet. There is something that you need to consider first before grabbing that donut. You need to take a good look at your diet. Because even if you have been avoiding that yummy donut for the longest time, you might already be within your recommended daily intake of sugar.

You need to take a good look at your diet. Because even if you have been avoiding that yummy donut for the longest time, you might already be within your recommended daily intake of sugar.

Here’s an example. Did you know that a side order of coleslaw from KFC is equivalent to 14 grams of sugar? This is like eating more than one donut already. And that non-fat Greek yogurt that you love so much contains 15 grams of sugar. The same goes for the classic Campbell’s Tomato Soup. Related Read: Use promo codes for Nutrisystem and save money

That healthy breakfast of Raisin Bran Cereal you have been trying so hard to stick to; well, that contains 17 grams of sugar already. And if you’re thinking of having a healthy lunch of Panera Southwestern Chicken Flatbread Sandwich, then you might as well just skip the donuts. You will end up reaching the maximum daily intake of sugar. Chances are, you might even exceed the required daily intake. That really is something to think about.

A Less Tedious Way Of Watching Your Sugar Intake

Sugar is bad when it’s taken in large amounts. Taking in too much sugar can lead to diabetes and obesity. It’s also not good for the heart. And get this. According to a recent study, sugar can cause bad moods. If taken too much, it can lead to anxiety and depression. Given all that, you should definitely watch your sugar intake.

But that can get a little too tricky. You will find it pretty hard to monitor your sugar intake considering there’s sugar in all the foods you eat. A less tedious way to do it is to do it the Medifast way.

Medifast is a meal replacement program that can help you lose and maintain your weight. You won’t have to worry about your sugar intake because that’s taken care of by Medifast. And it’s not like you have to give up sugar with Medifast. You can still enjoy some sweet treats and stay within the required sugar intake.

Medifast is actually safe for folks with diabetes. The reason for that is because Medifast provides just the right amount of calories and carbohydrates. Folks with diabetes don’t have to worry about their food intake because Medifast provides pre-portioned meals. This means that every ingredient in a Medifast meal is carefully measured. If you really want to watch your sugar intake and have no idea how to do it, them Medifast is for you.

So if you’re thinking about grabbing a donut right now, think again. Unless you have a good gauge as to how much sugar you have taken in for the day, then go for it. But if you’re still confused about your daily sugar intake and have no idea as to how much you have taken in, then drop the donut.

You cannot lose weight by simply ignoring a donut. You need to have a more in depth knowledge on food. Now, that can be pretty tedious. The good thing about getting on a meal replacement program like Medifast is that you don’t have to worry about the food you eat. You can eat well-balanced meals and not worry about your sugar intake. And yes, you can still lose weight.

  1. I had been strictly watching my sugar for the past months. That pretty much meant that I was totally avoiding any kind of sweet stuff in various forms of candies, cakes, cookies, and drinks. That was really a lot to resist. Until one day, I saw a bag of chocolate covered almonds (my favorite). Unfortunately, I just ended up grabbing it and eating the whole bag. I felt awful afterwards. I wish I didn’t do it but I did it. The good thing about doing it is that I’ve realized that it;s not worth it. So the next time I see a bag of chocolate covered almonds, I won’t get tempted anymore. I learned my lesson.

  2. Practically everything you eat contains sugar. That said, there’s no need to eat desserts to satisfy sugar cravings. Although desserts, like cakes and pastries, are tempting, they’re not really essential components of your diet. As a matter of fact, they won’t do you any good. So avoid them.

  3. There are also fruits that have high sugar content but at least, they’re natural sources, You are right to say that sugar is everywhere. If we can’t keep a close eye on our sugar intake, then we should really drink lots of water to wash some sugar out of our body.

    1. Aside from drinking lots of water, it’s best to take some time to work out. It’s not good to retain the sugar in the body. Better to sweat it all out. 🙂

  4. I never thought I could drop my sugar cravings but amazingly, I did. I didn’t do anything special expect say no. I said no to every cheesecake that was offered to me for dessert. I said no to all the chocolate bars that were screaming, “Eat me!” I also said no to a lot of soda pops and frappes. I’m not venting here. I’m actually proud of it but there are times when I want to give in. Medifast has some sweet bars that can help me say no even if I’m tempted to say yes.

  5. I have been really trying to cut down on the sugar. I’ve proudly lessened the desserts. Before, I couldn’t even say no but now, I can easily walk away and say no to some tempting desserts and candies. However, I still get some sweet cravings from time to time. When I can’t resist it, I grab a bar from Medifast instead. That way, I satisfy my craving without having to give in totally to the sugar laden desserts that can ruin my healthy diet.

  6. The truth is, we don’t need a lot of sugar in our body. It’s pretty easy to get the 25 grams of sugar in just one sitting. In my opinion, it’s really crucial that we avoid pastries, candies, and sodas. Their sugar content is way too much for our body. This is not to say that we have to totally avoid sugar because that’s impossible. We just really need to choose the right source of sugar for our body. If we do end up treating ourselves to a slice of cake or pie, then we should go out of our way to sweat it out.
